CHEF’S CHALLENGE®: The Ultimate Battle for a Cure
On Saturday, February 8th, 2014 in Toronto, the top 50 fundraisers who have raised $2,500 or more will participate and compete in teams, guided by five culinary masters. Acting as mentors, they will guide participants through all stages of preparing the meal, which in turn will be judged by a panel of expert gastronomists.
New this year, fundraisers who have raised over $1,000 but are not part of the top 50 on stage will be invited to a meet & greet with Giada. On Saturday afternoon, February 8th, this group of Mount Sinai Hospital supporters will meet Giada, and receive a personalized signed copy of her most recent cookbook. Contestants will also receive a coveted Chef’s Challenge® apron to take home, as well as countless months of bragging rights.
Table patrons at the final cook-off will enjoy a mouth watering five-course Giada-inspired meal, as they compete in tableside challenges against other gala guests.
Last year’s event, hosted by Guy Fieri at the Fairmont Royal York, raised over $775,000 for Mount Sinai Hospital bringing the three-year fundraising total to over $3.04 million. “This, without a doubt, is the most off-the-hook, crammed-in dinner I’ve ever seen!” exclaimed Guy Fieri, of the 2012 gala. He continued, “Of all the events I do, you guys are raising the bar higher than anyone else in the world.” Previous hosts Bobby Flay and Gordon Ramsay also showered the event with praise.
PRE-BATTLE: Chef’s Challenge®
For the first time, Chef’s Challenge® is urging fundraisers to sign up early with the opportunity to participate in a pre-battle that will take place at the Delicious Food Show on Saturday, October 26th, 2013. Four lucky fundraisers that have raised the most funds over the course of the first 18 days of the campaign will be invited to compete against each other on the same stage that will host presentations by Martha Stewart, Mark McEwan and Michael Smith. The pre-battle, taking place at the Better Living Centre in Toronto, will be evaluated by a surprise group of celebrity judges that will carefully critique the contestants’ creations.
